Billing & Refund Policy
The short version:
- The 14-day Plus trial requires no card and moves to Starter unless you choose a paid plan.
- Paid plans renew automatically monthly or annually until cancelled.
- Cancel before the renewal date to avoid the next charge; paid access normally continues to the end of the current period.
- Monthly charges are generally non-refundable. Annual plans have a 14-day refund window and a fair prorated option after that.
1. Currency, prices, and taxes
Prices are displayed and charged in Canadian dollars unless checkout clearly says otherwise. Applicable GST/HST, QST, PST, or other taxes are added where required and shown before you confirm payment. Plan limits and features are shown on the Pricing page and in the app.
2. Free plan and trial
Starter is a free plan with usage limits. New workspaces receive a 14-day trial of Plus features without providing a payment card. The trial does not silently become a paid subscription: if you do not affirmatively complete paid checkout, the workspace moves to Starter when the trial ends.
You may end a trial at any time. Because no payment is collected for the no-card trial, there is no trial charge to refund.
3. Automatic renewal
When you purchase a paid plan, you authorize the plan price and applicable taxes to be charged in advance to your selected payment method. Monthly plans renew each month; annual plans renew each year. The renewal date and billing interval are available in your billing account or Stripe receipt.
The subscription continues to renew until it is cancelled. We will provide renewal or price-change notices where required by law. We recommend setting your own reminder as well, particularly for annual plans.
4. Cancelling
You can cancel through NextiaTax’s billing page or the Stripe-hosted billing portal. You may also contact support@nextiatax.com if self-service cancellation is unavailable.
- Monthly plan: cancellation stops the next monthly renewal. Access normally continues until the current paid month ends.
- Annual plan: cancellation stops the next annual renewal. Access normally continues until the current paid year ends unless a refund is issued.
- Trial: cancellation may end trial access immediately.
Cancellation of a subscription does not automatically delete your account or business records. Export or delete data separately through the product’s privacy controls.
5. Refunds
Monthly plans
Monthly subscription charges are generally non-refundable once a billing period begins. We will, however, correct duplicate or erroneous charges and provide any refund required by applicable law.
Annual plans
You may request a full refund within 14 calendar days after an initial annual purchase or annual renewal. After that 14-day period, you may request a prorated refund for the unused complete months remaining in the annual term. Any refund ends the corresponding paid access and the workspace may move to Starter.
This annual policy is deliberately more flexible than a blanket “no refunds” rule. It recognizes the longer commitment while protecting NextiaTax from refunds for time already provided.
Exceptions and statutory rights
We may decline a courtesy refund where there is evidence of fraud, abuse, chargeback misuse, or material consumption of a limited service followed by a refund request. This does not affect non-waivable rights under consumer-protection law. Approved refunds are sent to the original payment method, generally initiated within 10 business days or sooner where law requires; your bank may take additional time to post the credit.
6. Plan changes
Before confirming a plan change, checkout will show the plan, billing interval, amount due, and any credit or proration. Upgrades may take effect immediately. Downgrades may take effect immediately or at the end of the billing period, depending on the checkout terms shown to you. Reduced limits may affect future uploads or actions, but we will not intentionally delete existing records solely because you downgrade.
7. Price changes
We may change plan prices for future billing periods. We will give reasonable advance notice before a price change applies to your renewal. If you do not agree, cancel before the effective renewal date. We will not retroactively increase a charge already paid.
8. Failed payments
If a payment fails, we may retry the charge, ask you to update the payment method, restrict paid features, or move the workspace to a lower-access state after notice. You remain responsible for valid charges incurred before cancellation.
9. Billing questions
Contact support@nextiatax.com promptly if you do not recognize a charge or believe an invoice is wrong. Include the invoice date and receipt number, but never send a full payment-card number by email.
